Background

A founding member of the Extended StayAmerica executive team, Mike directed the capital investment of more than $2 billion in the development of 475 hotel projects in nine years. That part of the ESA story remains the fastest growing lodging startup in history; created billions in shareholder value; and was consummated with the sale of the company to Blackstone Partners.

 

As VP of Development at Blockbuster Entertainment, Mike led real estate, construction, research, store design, lease administration, real estate legal, and distribution. Each year Mike’s team opened more than 500 new stores, along with hundreds of lease renewals, store relocations, and store remodels. After seven years at that pace, the company achieved a market cap of greater than $8 billion and was merged with Viacom.
